35th Cairo Film Festival – Masterclass

35th Cairo International Film Festival 2012Mamoun has also accepted an invitation from the Festival’s Presdient, Dr Ezzat Abu Ouf, to give a Masterclass. Mamoun has chosen to discuss Gillo Pontecorvo‘s masterpiece, The Battle of Algiers.

Mamoun has written a piece about The Battle of Algiers for The Times Higher Education Supplement, which can be read on the THES website.

Wajda Studio and School

13–17 July, Mamoun will be a script consultant at the Wajda Studio and School in Warsaw under the aegis of EKRAN (a collaborative project between the Wajda Studio and School, FOCAL (Switzerland), Austrian Film Institute (Austria), Mitteldeutsche Medienförderung GmbH (Germany), with support of Polish Film Institute and MEDIA EU Programme.)

The Conversation continues at the European Film College in Ebeltoft, Denmark

Mamoun Hassan will be at the European Film College in Ebeltoft, Denmark on the 2nd  and 3rd of May, where he is providing his services as an assessor.
Mamoun will be evaluating the students’ final projects.  They will also have a chance to enjoy one of his top-rated Movie Master Classes – on Francis Ford Coppola’s The Conversation. The thrice Academy-nominated 1974 thriller starring Gene Hackman will be discussed by Mamoun, with help from the students. The event will be recorded by the European Film College.

Masterclasses in Cuba

Mamoun has been in Cuba teaching at the Film School in Havana for over a week now, but today he is doing a Masterclass session beginning with the last scene of Coppola’s ‘The Conversation‘ and, maybe, the opening scenes of Hawks’s ‘Rio Bravo‘.
